In vocal performance, the first section to be heard is the initial prefix when a singer’s states of breathe and cavity are ready. The propriety, force and pace of handling the initial prefix not only directly affect the lucidness of enunciation, the height and position of singing, but also directly form the singer’s tone, which exerts significant influence on the expression of songs’ sentiments. In order to precisely convey the sentiments of songs, a flexible process of the initial prefix, as an indispensible part, is worthy of great attention. In general, when singing songs with passionate and intense sentiments, “explosions of vibrations” can demonstrate the theatricality of songs. When singing relaxing songs, a rigorous and regular process of the initial prefix can level up the artistry of songs. A tight and slow flowing of the initial prefix helps to convey a mild emotion; while soft and clear articulation is more advantageous to express a stable and peaceful sentiment. The initial prefix with audible breathing suits to set off a miserable and desolate atmosphere.
