Urban sculpture and installation art have been hot topics among the public for diversification of today artistic form. The phenomenons of urban sculpture installatization In The Contemporary Era have aroused the deep thinking of the author of this paper. Does installation art refer to the urban sculpture in the contemporary era and whether it is an inevitable tendency for the further development of contemporary urban sculpture? With these questions, the author reviewed relevant literatures and made the following conclusions:In the art field, especially the statuary art field, there are third opinions for the theoretical definition of urban sculpture: the first opinion is, in the installation of contemporary urban sculpture, installation art is a necessary logic of sculpture art; The second opinion is, the contemporary urban sculpture and installation is not one art, Contemporary urban sculpture is contemporary urban sculpture, while installation art is installation art, the two independent arts can not be mixed; in the third opinion, it is believed that contemporary urban sculpture contains installation arts, but this installation is based on the development logic of sculptures. Based on these opinions in the academic world, the author confirmed one indisputable truth, that is, the contemporary urban sculpture gradually become installation-oriented sculpture in contemporary cities. The author made a corresponding analysis of this phenomenon and agreed with the third opinion, that is, urban sculpture contains installation art, but it can’t be as common as installation art. Contemporary sculpture shall remain its own language, and shall have corresponding limitations in innovation.For nearly twenty years’development of contemporary urban sculpture, we can see the focus of some young sculptors is the sculpture itself, but the installation area. Moreover, they have started the exploration and creation of it. Traditional sculpture has been widely popularized in concept. Similarly, traditional sculpture has been developed in pattern. In The contemporary era, there is no one who can make a convincible definition on sculpture. The concept of Contemporary sculpture art has become a mysterious and unpredictable concept, and it even comes to the edge of being engulfed. The phenomenon of sculpture installatization was thoroughly reflected by replacement of "integration" for "cultivation". The meaning of materials has replaced the meaning of sculpture. Conceptual language becomes a creation method.Through the analysis of current status of contemporary urban sculpture installatization, the aesthetic characteristics we have concluded from the analysis are as follows:(1) the ready-made article of installation-oriented urban sculpture is neither "carved" nor "shaped" well. It reflects the characteristics of dislocated life image, and the overlap between urban sculpture space and the installatization etc. (2) the urban sculpture installation based on the diversified materials have shown that contemporary urban sculpture materials are used for certain purpose, the "classical feature" of urban sculpture materials are used in installation and the urban sculpture materials are diversified. (3) The installation-oriented urban sculpture through the expression of ideas is closely related to our life, and reflects the characteristics of "self-justification" of critics.Therefore, the author studied the aesthetic characteristics of contemporary urban sculpture installation and came to the following conclusions: the development innovation of contemporary urban sculpture shall be carried out while remaining the ontology language of sculpture art. As an independent art, it has clear characteristics. Nowadays, the diversification of times have promoted the diversification of art creation, different subject and fields have mutual penetrated with other art forms, which is the reflection of advancement in academic world. Limitative principles in the expansion of sculpture ontology language draw much of our attention, as it could prevent the independence of sculpture ontology language from loss, and the basis to distinguish it with independence of other art forms. Independence oriented sculpture art must abide by the limitative principles in the development of sculpture ontology language. In studying the performance of sculpture art’s diversification, the general future consciousness in the area of sculpture art must be revoked, so as to keep this ancient art with long history to development constantly. Sculptors need to think about the future development based on the current realty, only in this way, can there be a new development for sculpture art, which is also the new requirement for the healthy development of contemporary sculpture art. Meanwhile, it protects the sculpture art from negative influences of the outer world or self-destruction. Any sculptors of any era shall insist on their sacred obligation all the time, as it is also an internal requirement for the independence of sculpture art.
