With the development of the economy and the social modernization, more and more rural resident have to leave home to work in cities in order to increase the family income. However, they can’t bring their children with them due to the economy or other factors. Then, they have to leave their children at their home in rural areas. As a result, it brings lots of negative influence to the children.Firstly, the research chooses the left-behind teenagers in Gulin district in Luzhou city. We use the Adolescent Life Event Scale, Emotional Intelligence Scale and youth social adaptation assessments as the research tool. After the students finished the questionnaire, we analyzed the state. Secondly, we communicate to the teachers of the students and collected more information. After analyzed the data and information, we found the results as follows:(1) Left-behind teenagers faces more stressful life events. Meanwhile, the smaller the frequency they contact with their parents, the more stressful life events they have to face.(2) The parents’ going outside has little influence on the left-behind teenagers’ emotional intelligence. No matter who work outside or who look after them, there is little difference between the emotional intelligence of the left-behind teenagers.(3) There’s little difference on social adjustment between different types of left-behind teenagers. However, there’s significant difference between the ones who contact with their parents with different frequency. The bigger frequency they contact with their parents, the less scores they gained on the worry dimension of the social adjustment questionnaire. According to the results of the two researches in the article, the left-behind teenagers should contact with their parents more frequently in order to have a better development.(4) The scores on Life Event Scale positively correlated to the scores on the worry and irregular dimensions, negatively correlated to self-emotion management.(5) The stressful life events affect the social adjustment directly. Meanwhile, it affects the social adjustment indirectly by the self-emotion management. Self-emotion management acts as a partial mediator between stressful life events and the social adjustment.(6) In order to promote the development and healthy of the left-behind teenagers, we can reduce the stressful life events from the outside. Their parents should keep frequently contact with them and give them much attention and love. On the other hand, we can train them to develop positive psychological quality like good ability of self-emotion management and optimistic attitude towards life.
