| This thesis concentrates on analyzing Cross-media artistic expression in the films by Tsai Ming-Liang,deciphering in details the relationships between his films and the contemporary art and performance art, the expressive styles, the aesthetic feature as well as their impact.The thesis breaks down into four chapters.The first chapter investigates the relationship between Tsai’s films and Cross-media artistic expression on the base of how he has developed his concept of contemporary art against the background the "pro-new film" era in Taiwan, especially focusing on the installation art and the performance art.The second chapter embodies Cross-media artistic expression in Tsai Ming-Liang film.Combined with Tsai’s films in specific installation art and performance art,research and analysis in Tsai’s films about time,space,body,still life,water.The third chapter embodies the study of the aesthetic features of Tsai Ming-Liang film,Tsai Ming-Liang contrast with other directors.The last concludes with the impact of Tsai’s films on Cross-media art,at the same time looking into the future with the development of Cross-media art in diversity.The analyzing of the installation art and the performance art in Tsai’s films expands the study of Tsai’s films,syncretizing the film and the contemporary art. |
