Alice Munro (1931-) is a famous short story writer in the 20th century, the feminine angle of view of her novel, detailed psychological description, the open narrative structure,and the colorfull fiction based on her autobiography,all made her won all the varities of the domestic award in Canada.In 2013, depended on ’dear life",she won the Nobel Prize for literature.And this made her became the first short novel winning writer of Nobel Prize for literature in the history.As the typic woman,who born in the lower-middle-class in Canada,and finally became the upper-middle-class.The author has carried on the detailed description on man and woman’s social living conditions in her works, especially the women’s life outlook and self-values.To classified the characters in the relationship, the characters in her works can be divided into four types of different female images, two types of male image and three kinds of family patterns.The research bases on the character images’relationship and family patterns of our writers’ works and another group of women-girl image, the paper reveales the great influence to the traditional Canadian gender ethics from knowledge and power system,and also the specific code of ethics and life practice, as well as the reason of the formation of such a deep traditional gender ethics.This article tries to use the theory of gender ethics,and also the sociological criticism, feminist criticism, narrative theories. Through close reading and deeply discussing,the further reasons to Munro and her writings’gender concepts would be revealed.This paper divides into three parts, written with the pattern of introduction, body and conclusion, whereas the body part is further divided into three chapters.Through the analysis of research both at home and abroad on Munro’s writing, the introduction part generally introduces Munro’s writing, pointing out the current problems of Munro’s research establishing the significance of this study and further clarifying her study methods and innovations.The first chapter of the main body divides into two sections, the first section introduces the two dimensions of gender, which is the body of gender and the gender of culture; the second section introduces the predecessors to the discussion of "gender ethics", and it also explaines the research focus of gender ethics.The second chapter divides into three sections. Classifying the relationship of a series of men’s and women’s image in the novel, it is divided into four types of female images and two male images. This is the thesis of the first and second section. The third section is made up by a few kinds of marriage patterns, "successfull" marriage form, the "normal" marriage patterns, "failed" marriage patterns. By analysising the gender ethics and the relationship of sexes of different marriage patterns, it sums up to the further reason of the three code of marriage.The third chapter divides into two sections. On the basis of the above chapters, it discusses the gender ethics of writer Munro and her contradictions.The first section introduces the author the ideal gender ethics; The second section introduces the writer’s gender ethics inherent contradictions.Conclusion part is a big supplement on gender ethics.By analysisng another kind of typical characters in the novel, the young girl image, and by analysisng the young girl’s growing up from their ignorance, suspicions, resistance, compromise, accept,practice and even supervision to the other people, it more intuitively reveals the Canadian system of traditional culture,espesically the traditional gender ethics’s construction and its reconstruction process.
