With the improvement of China’s comprehensive national strength, international exchanges in politics, economy, culture and other aspects have increased with each passing day. Helping the world know more about China has become the shared wish of all the Chinese people. The press conference is the bridge of our international exchange, of which the interpretation features its politics and diplomacy and is a kind of cross-cultural communication behavior. As a result, the quality of the press conference’s interpretation will have a great influence on China’s international image.Based on Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence and from the perspective of the interpreter, the paper explores four methods of interpreting culture-loaded terms through analyzing the examples in the 2014 press conference of "two sessions" namely annotation, literal interpretation, free interpretation and substitution. During the interpretation, the interpreter must properly understand the cultural connotation embodied in the words and phrases and adopt the appropriate interpreting methods to analyze the cultural factor which may easily cause semantic conflict between the original and the interpretation. By doing so, the author makes an attempt to provide some coping strategies in improving the quality of interpretation in the future.
