The report is produced on the basis of the author’s practical translation experience of theTranslator’s Guide to Chinglish. This work has two purposes: first, it is an importanttranslation practice in the course of the program of Master of Translation and Interpreting;second, on the basis of understanding the translation content, it takes to analyze thephenomenon of Chinglish, in order to help English learners in China, who have somedifficulties in English study, especially concerning about English writing and English-Chinesetranslation. Meanwhile, some typical manifestations of Chinglish are itemized with examples.It is also pointed that Chinglish is part of the common phenomenon of English learning for usChinese, and a lenient attitude should be adopted on the way to avoiding it. Thus, it has agreat significance for improving the quality of English learning.This paper is divided into four parts: Part One is an introduction that presents thebackground, goal and significance of this report. Part Two is the understanding of Chinglish,including its definition, origin, and avoidance strategy. Part Three mainly introducestranslation practice analysis including preparation, the duration of translation, andmanifestation of Chinglish confronted from lexicon, syntax and semantics. Part Foursummarizes the Enlightenment.
