From "Nature And Instinct" To "Suffering And Struggle"

In the whole of Modern Japanese Literature, Farmers Literature is in a small proportion, the main proportion is Urban Literary. Therefore, studies of Modern Japanese Literature focuses on urban literature, while ignoring the marginalized status of Farmers Literature. Although the number of Modern Farmers Literary works is few, we can still find out the different characteristics of Moderb Japanese Farmers Literature in different periods,and influenced by the ideological trend of modern Japanese Literature from these works. So it is very important to study and analyze the modern Japanese Farmers Literature.Through a close reading of texts, the paper combs the production and development of Modern Farmers Literature,and analyses the characteristic of "from ’nature and instinct ’to’ suffering and struggle’"and its causes.The article is divided into four major parts.The first part is the present condition of Modern Farmers Literary’s study, pointing out the significance of this topic and the research ideas of this article. The second part grasps Modern Japanese Farmers Literature as a whole, by dividing to three periods, which are early stage, development period, variation period, to comb the development process of Modern Farmers Literature. Through a close reading of Shimazaki Toson’s Chikumagawa sketches and Arisima Takeo’s Cain’s Descendant, the third part analyses the characteristic of Farmers Literature in early period and its causes. The forth part further explores the characteristics of Farmers Literature in development period centering with Kobayashi Takiji’s rural novels, and points out that wrong proletarian literature movement guidance and politicization of literary theory causes shortcomings in rural novels that exist in the arts.
