Chi Zijian is a native novelist with a unique style in Chinese contemporary literaryworld. This article attempts to locate the existence of Chi Zijian in the history of thecontemporary native novels in China through the overall understanding of the native novelsof Chi Zijian and the analysis of the creation, the style, the artistic characteristics and thethematic connotation of his works.This article is divided into six parts.The first part, the introduction part. this section is mainly to solve two problems, the firstproblem is the research overview to Chi Zijian, in this paper, through the recent30years’study of Chi Zijian the writer finds that the research of Chi Zijian mainly has three types, oneis the overall analysis of Chi Zijian’s works from the angle of "region","aesthetics","narrative point of view"and "anthropology "; The second type is the research of a particularnovel of Chi Zijian; The third type is the comparison research between Chi Zijian and thewriters, such as Xiao Hong, A’lai, Shen Congwen, etc. The second problem is the researchthought of this article. After combing the nearly30years’ research of Chi Zijian, the writerputs forward his own research ideas.The second part,"Chi Zijian’s local creation". This part first analyses the causes of theformation of Chi Zijian’s agrestic complex. There are three main reasons, thefirst is the goodlife environment in Chi Zijian’s childhood; the second is Chi Zijian’s long years’ accumulatedliterary accomplishment; the third is because of Chi zijian’s moving to the city as an adult thecomparing between urban and rural areas strengthens her agrestic complex. After analyzingthe causes of the Chi Zijian agrestic complex. In this part the writer draws the outline of ChiZijiani’s creating trajectory, Chi Zijian’s creation is divided into three stages: the first stage,the groping stage, mainly refers to the creation of Chi Zijian’s writings in the1980’s; Thesecond stage-style formation, mainly refers to Chi Zijian’s writings in the1990’s; Thirdstage mainly refers the creation of Chi Zijian’s writings in the new century, in this stage, ChiZijian has a more kind of ecological cultural consciousness, and it is just this kind ofconsciousness that makes Chi Zijian in his works of this period pay more attention to theecological environment and use the ecological environment as the protagonist of the novels. The third part,"the native world in Chi Zijian’s novels". This part mainly from the mostimportant two aspects that is, the essence and the shape of the native novels studies ChiZijian’s novels. First of all, from the angles of "the three paintings","landscape","genrepainting" and "scenery painting" the paper studies the local customs and characters in ChiZijian’s works. Secondly, from the "four colors","natural color","divine color", refugeescolor", and "sad color" the paper studies the regional features in Chi Zijian’s novels.The fourth part, the thematic implication of Chi Zijian’s agrestic novels". Through thecomparison of urban civilization and rural civilization, the writer analyzes the persistentpursuit of the theme of "nature and humanity" in Chi Zijian’s vernacular novels. In the firstsection it analyzes the harmonious relatioships between human and nature, man and man,man and self in the rural civilization. In the second section, it reveals during the process ofmodern civilization, the destruction of nature, interpersonal alienation, people’s lost the self.By contrast, it strengthens the holding of the traditional civilization and the reflection of themodern civilization.The fifth part,"the artistic features of Chi Zijian native novels". This section is toanalyze the artistic characteristics of Chi Zijian’s native novels. This article is mainly fromtwo aspects that is,"the unique angle of view" and "the poetic styles". Chi Zijian has a uniqueback of view of local novels. She likes to adopt the children’s pure reaction from the point ofview of pure beauty in her hometown and to write the warmth and kindness in the countryfrom the angle of women’s warm tolerance. Secondly, Chi Zijian is good at creating abeautiful artistic conception by using a lot of rhetorical devices such as synaesthesiaparallelism etc.to form a poetic language style, all of which gives the unique aesthetic style tothe native novelsof Chi Zijian’s.The sixth part,"epilogue part". In this section, the paper analyzes the current status ofChi Zijian’s native literature writing in the literary history, and points out in spite of theinsufficient knowledge of the value of Chi Zijian’s native novels, Chi Zijian’s native novels inthe contemporary literary world can always be faithful to their inner literary expression,rather than to follow the popular literature ideological trend to go with the flow and steepprofits. Her novels are the representative of the "native literature" in the true sense, and theauthor believes that in the future of literary history, Chi Zijian’s native novel is bound to gain a foothold.
