The Research Of Hongben Zhao’s Comic Books

In the development process of Chinese comic，the comic creation of Hongben Zhao almost wentthrough the various periods of development of modern comics，and had a profound impact onChinese people. In the period of Republican，there were four large faction of comic creativeteams in Shanghai，know as the ’Four famous’，Zhao is the primacy of this. In addition，as the oneof the most exquisite comic artists，he also enjoyed the title of ’Comic ancestry’.In this paper，I will take the comic artist Zhao as the object of study，analysis the influence to hiscreation from historical background and his contribution to Chinese comic though his life andwork characteristics，make a praise of his identity of ’comic ancestry’ and the historicalsignificance of his works. There are some related research as follows: the public cultural ofShanghai in the period of Republican，the historical changes of the political，economic andcultural in Shanghai，the impact of Zhao’s comic creation from the Leftist Association literature，the influence of reference to Western and Shanghai’s art style to his comic creation，his personallife experience and ideas of comic creation，and so on.The study of Zhao’s art style of his comic, not only can interpret his comic’s art achievement better, but also can analysis and summary creation practice and theoretical understanding of Chinesemodern comic in a certain sense. The study of Zhao’s comics has an important reference for reform and innovation of Chinese comic in the respect of culture and education.
