CangLangShiHua, written by Yan Yu, holds an important position in the history of ancient Chinese theory of literature.The discussions about theory of poetic style plays an important role in the theoretical system of CangLangShiHua.This thesis starts with the concepts of styles of literature, focusing on the theorietical foundation of poetic styles of CangLangShiHua, and cannotation as well as theoretical system,including the influence on the poetic theory followed.The first section of this thesis aims to reorganizing the theory of styles before CangLangShiHua and explaining the relationship between theory of poetic styles and the core poetic theory that represented by "stirring and excitement", leading to the theoretical foundation of theory of poetic styles of CangLangShiHua. The second section abstracts the concepts of styles of CangLangShiHua such as grade,and also analyzes these concepts. The third section concludes the contents of theory of poetic styles of CangLangShiHua by approaching some poetic topics in CangLangShiHua,which aims to prove that it has great influence both on the Literary Criticism and the theory of poetic style.The fourth section points out the foundationt of the theoretical systemof poetic style of CangLangShiHua is in the ShiBian part, constructing the framework of theory of poetic styles of CangLangShiHua. The last section explores the influence of theory of poetic styles of CangLangShiHua on the poetic theory followed, takes Gao Bing and Li Dongyang as examples. In conclusion, the theory of poetic style of CangLangShiHua is rich in content as well as its perfect structure, and all above make CangLangShiHua a complete theoretical system which signifies the maturity of the ancient Chinese theory of poetic style.
