<National spirit>，a modern suite, composed by Xiang Zuhua in the70’s to the90’s oftwentieth century,who’s the chinese famous contemporary dulcimer player, composer,educator.It is the most landmark modern dulcimer piece since the professional composebegan.The piece’s compose and play is very important in the development of our country’sdulcimer art,and it is so valuable on research. This paper focus on two movements of thesuite,<Quyuan sacrifice the river>,<and Linchong escape in the night>,analyse the technologyof the music and performance,to reach deep within the ideas of the composer and the culturalconnotation.This is important to the teaching and developing dulcimer art.
