Rudolf Serkin(1903-1991) was an American-Austrian pianist. His profoundmusical performance made him an outstanding pianist in the middle of the twentiethcentury. Apart from his excellent performance in the solo, his indoor musicalperformance cooperatively completed with the violinist Adolf Bush was also anirreplaceable classic to his fans. Rudolf Serkin was not only an outstanding pianomaster, but the dean of the Piano Department in Curtis Institute of Music. During histenure, he cultivated a batch of new outstanding pianists, such as Eugene Istomin,Ruth Laredo, Seymour Lipkin, et al. Rudolf Serkin had his unique idea inperformance repertoire, technique and style, or in the training and teaching of theskills, and it made him distinctive among various performance schools. Based on theresearch on the performance and teaching of the immortal master, or even his art life,we will have a better understanding of the profound meaning of piano performance, aswell as the style of the works, thus improving our own performance techniques.
