Research On Cognate Words Of Xiao Erya

XiaoErya is a very important work in the history of our YaXue research.It is a dictionary of meaning classification, which plays an important role in the language study of later generations. Firstly,mainly based on the "YinZhuan regularity" of Mr Wang li and"semantic analysis"of Mr Wang ning, this paper aims to do some elaborate analysis of Guang Gu and Guang Yan’s entries and by doing so, we will find out a similar relationship of their phonemes and the semantics. Secondly, these words will be judged to be etymological cognates or not.At last, this paper will analyze the types of phonetic relationship and semantic relationship as to come to a conclusion respectively but roughly. The practice is expected to give a full play to its interpratative value in ancient Chinese books and to provide some materials for the study of Chinese etymology while verifying some theoretical achievements of etymological research. Above all, we hope this paper will offer a little strength to the theory construction of Chinese etymology.
