Stating The Historical Theory Research Of Liu Danian After The Reform And Opening-up

After the period of the reform and opening to the outside world, new problems and challenges were faced in historical science of China with the entering of western historiography, for the sake of these problems, so much constructive work were did by Liu Danian.In terms of promoting Marxism historiography development, Liu Danian opposed to succumb the political authority in history, and requested the historian to focus on the reality and the times of history. He corrected the bad style of study which was out of the reality, and the idea of “History is did for the history”; The relationship between the materialism and the historism was discussed, the difference between materialism and historical theory was put forward, the point of history has its own theories and methodologies was raised, the basic system of historical theory subject was set up, and finally, the science of history was restored; He summarized the tradition of our historical science, and analyzed the cultural factors on the choice of Marxism in China. He thought the Marxism must be combined with the tradition of Chinese history, and he opened a new journey to the development of Chinese Marxist historiography; He criticized the ideological tendency of “down” the guiding ideology of Marxism and the extreme view of “back to the period of Qianjia”. He opposed the disconnection between historical data and historical theory, and established the guidance of Marxism for history again. He asked to realize the diversity of history under the premise of insisting on the guiding position of Marxism.About the modern Chinese history, Liu Danian elaborated the major theoretical issues on the basis of predecessors’ achievements, he connected the national independence and the achievement of modernization closely with the social nature of China; He affirmed the positive significance of reform movement, he researched the reform movement of 1898 which had been led by Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao, sun yat-sen, and the Revolution of 1911. He paid attention to the research of Anti-Japanese War history, and denied the version of “farewell to revolution”; He claimed that the class analysis should be noticed in history research, and raised the interdisciplinary research on the basis of the new social situation, which broadened field and enriched the content of the historical research.
