The E-C translation task of Tom Swift and his Photo Telephone, entrusted by Patton Ivan, was completed by the author in April, 2013. The translated version is scheduled to be published in 2015. This juvenile science fiction contains numerous fictional conversations, which play an important role in fascinating the story plot. The problem of how to reproduce the fictional conversations remains a major barrier to shaping stereotypical characters and overwhelms great importance and significance. Under the guidance of Skopos theory, this report focuses on the problems appearing in the translation of the fictional conversations and offers the relevant solutions as well. The report shows that the following approaches can be employed to reach the artistic effects of reproducing fictional conversations: utilization of idioms, non-standard languages or misspellings, four-character phrases and honorifics; the usage of vulgar speeches, modal particles, models verbs and imperative sentences; the inter-textual coherence and intra-textual coherence.
