In The Theory Of Contemporary Art Expressive Watercolor Painting Creation

Throughout the development course of watercolor painting, the creation orientation of watercolor painting develops constantly in the diversity of style and materials application in recent years. The author thinks that in the contemporary artistic ideological trends, the ambiguity of painting border and the trend of mutual expansion of different painting types have a big influence on that. Among those, the most remarkable influence is that picture language jumps out of the structure of pure realistic traditional painting and highlights the expression of the painters’ intention through picture more. With the above as a starting point, taking advantage of the uncertainty and inclusiveness of watercolor as a media to achieve the painter’s thought pursuit from the pure water color painting as a painting method to enrich picture by applying comprehensive materials embodies the contemporaneity of watercolor painting. In artistic creation, artists need to exert as many characteristics of materials as possible and combine Chinese and western culture and artists’ growth experience and personal ideologies to try to express their creation ideas to make works creative and characterful. For how to use the expanded materials and the structure of picture to achieve and enrich the performance of artistic works, this paper demonstrates the performance history with the theoretical base of “performance” as a starting point, and cites Benedetto Croce, Collingwood, Cassirer and Suanne K Langer’s opinions to constantly push the theory of “performance” and points out the importance of artists exerting artistic expression method to finally achieve the expression of personal emotion and aesthetic ideal. The paper, by combining the author’s own artistic experience, aims to explore the reduction of abstract objects to picture symbols, the modeling, color and components of picture and other factors improving the performance of picture, so as to achieve “art itself is the product of artists’ ideas” and make artistic works more characterful.
