| The thesis consists of three parts:the source text Intelligent Dispositions: Dewey, Habits and Inquiry in Teacher Education, its English-Chinese translation and a report on the translation. Firstly,the author of the original text is Peter J. Nelson, an employee of North Carolina Leadership Edu Studies, and he works as an Assistant Professor in Appalachian State University. Based on Deweyan thought, this article has answered three important questions about teachers’ dispositions and comes to a conclusion that disposition is plastic. Therefore, for the sake of fairness of education, teacher education program must pay more attention to the development of students’ intelligent dispositions. Secondly, the target readers of the translated text are teacher educators, teachers and quasi-teachers, and from the Chinese version they can learn something to guide their teaching practice in the future. Thirdly, the theoretical basis of the report is Skopos Theory. The translation report is mainly divided into four parts: introduction of the source text, introduction of Skopos Theory, significance of Skopos Theory to the translation project and case analysis, and conclusion. This report elaborates some translation experience of the translator in order to provide reference for the related translation in the future. |
