Xiaogang Feng’s movies are composed of New Year blockbuster and Historical films, which two are very different styles of works. This article depends on the external aesthetic character which two types of works present, hoping to reveal the internal aesthetic sprit and forming reason.Firstly, the article analyzes the characterization of heros,aesthetic features and aesthetic sprit connotation respectively of New Year blockbuster and Historical films of Xiaogang Feng’s and so on, explores the deep implication of the aesthetic character which two types of works show, discusses the main focusing and exactly emotion of aesthetic sprit of Xiaogang Feng’s movies. On the basis, sentimentality,the core of the essence of the aesthetic spirit of Xiaogang Feng’s movies is explored,then researching its forming reason. Furthermore, revealing the change and development of the film aesthetic sprit and pursuit from New Year blockbuster to Historical films, discussing the tradeoff between business and art of Xiaogang Feng’s moives, summarizing the aesthetic cultural significance of movies.Though Xiaogang Feng’s movies once were famous among Chinese Film by its comedy impact, Xiaogang Feng’s understanding for art and life, and his personal experience, personal artistic sensibilities and related reasons, sad mood is the predominant feeling occupied in his movie instead. The mood is based on culture and sprit essence of one with the similar feeling, mixing with namby—pamby of petty bourgeoisie literati. This sad mood is reflected in urban spectacle under the era change, man and woman in marketplace life and the ordinary individual in the history disaster, etc. What Xiaogang Feng’s New Year blockbusters present is comedy character, while sentimentality is behind it. Xiaogang Feng wants to show tragedy character in his historical play,and the basic of the tragedy character is sad mood. Combined with two types, the aesthetic sprit of keynote and impression of Xiaogang Feng’s movies are presented. New Year blockbuster and Historical play have their own forming reasons, but the internal sad sprit is felt throughout the movies, transforming and changing from the smile of sadness to grievous sorrow gradually, the aesthetic sprit,sad mood which is predominant is formed,and the whole style is shaped.
