On January 28, 1942, the CCP passed the three fundamental principles to deal with the land distribution in the war of resistance against Japan. In 1943-1944, the movement of rent and interest reduction reached its height. The CCP began its control of rural communities through the Tenant Organization in the Movement of Rent and Interest Reduction(thereafter referred to as OMRIR). By means of sending working groups, the CCP mobilized the grassroots to fight the rich peasants on the basis of protecting the tenants’ rights. The research of the behaviors of both peasants and tenants in the movement enables us to understand the success of the Chinese Communist revolution. As a model, the OMRIR was vital to the close connection between the Party Committee and grassroots. It took the place of the old system linked to kinship. |
