The Research On The Shouming Myth Of Emperors In The Han Dynasty

This article studies mainly emperors’Shouming myth of political myth in the Han Dynasty. Shouming myth is one type of political myth and has strong political utilitarianism as well as political myth, which proves the legitimacy and authority of the dynasty through the form of myth. The predecessors have insights to the related study, but they are relatively scattered and unsystematic. The type of traditional Chinese "political myth" was mostly formed in Qin and Han dynasties, and spread and played an significant role in the future society. However, for this period the research of political myth are not paid enough attention, and there are some problems on research methods and horizon. Therefore, the article tries to combine the predecessors’research results of political myth and investigate the political myth further to make up for shortage of the predecessors.During the process of forming Han Dynasty Shouming thoughts, scholars absorb and quote "Destiny View" and yin and yang theory of academic thought in the pre-Qin, and Dong Zhongshu’ s "Heaven and Man", "divine right of kings said" and divination. These views directly serve the Han Dynasty benevolent government to prove the legitimacy of the establishment of the Han Dynasty, but also bring the divine aura to emperors. Liu Bang was a civilian, he followed the ancestor myth, made a myth to his own birth and made Liu’ s descent sacred, then produced the grateful myth for life after he takes over power. Later generations thought Han is for the fire, but the dynasty fortunes are still controversial until the mid of the Western Han Dynasty, and combine with the mystical Confucianist belief and produce lots of myth on fire. The nature of Furui is the certificate symbol of heralding and proving ancient rulers accept, have the mandate of heaven. It derived from the ancient totem mythology, the original content mythology, and absorbed the calamity and auspicious thoughts in Western Zhou dynasty to the Warring States period. The representative views are Dong Zhongshu’s "heaven human induction", Liu Xiang and Liu Xin’s Shouming thoughts and so on. The later generations made up a series of FuRui myth based on these theories and the " Zhouyi", " Hetu ", " Luoshu " etc.In the Qin and Han Dynasty, the appearance of political myth system has many reasons. It includes the structural change of social and political reality, traditional ideological and cultural heritage, and political myth. There is important significance for understanding the Chinese traditional culture, especially Confucianism to further study the thinking characteristics and cultural connotations of the political myth in the Qin and Han Dynasty.
