Katherine Mansfield was an exceptional master of short stories. In her works, she focused on the living conditions and the inner worlds of the women and children. But under her study of women and children, her real aim is to lay bare and censure the patriarchal society. This thesis analyzes the feminist themes in Mansfield’s short stories based on discussions of male characters. By analyzing the characters of those fathers, lovers and husbands in connection with relevant ideas shown in her diaries and letters, this thesis is trying to reveal Mansfield’s critical attitude to the patriarchal society through analyses of the psychology and behavior of her male characters. |
