Based on the previous academic achievements, this study made a systematic study on the syntactic, semantic, pragmatic and cognitive features of English middle voice. After reviewing the basic knowledge of news English, the researcher studied the application of middle voice in news English text. In the study, the researcher mainly put forward three questions:1) Are the features of middle voice the same in syntactic, semantic, pragmatic and cognitive area? 2) How are the active voice, passive voice and middle voice used in news text? 3) What is the application field of middle voice in news text?In order to answer these three questions, the researcher collected respectively 30 news texts from The World of Time from 2009 to 2010 and The World This Week of Economist from 2009 to 2010, and analyzed the text sentences’ vproportion that contain middle voice, active voice and passive voice with the research methods of quantitative research and empirical research. The researcher made comparative analysis on the application of middle voice in two magazines with the study method of empirical.Based on the data analysis and discussion, three findings were concluded:1) The features of middle voice are different in syntactic, semantic, pragmatic and cognitive area; 2) English active voice is the most widely used in news text, passive voice is the second, and middle voice is the least; 3) Middle voice is mainly used in political news and weather news in news text.Theoretically, based on syntactic, semantic, pragmatic and cognitive grammar, the study made some explanation to English middle voice. It has enriched the middle voice research data. Practically, through constructive study, the application of middle voice in news English can be enlightened and this is helpful for news English teaching and learning in the future.
