German Jewish nation has a long history, but the contemporary people are filled with misfortune and extremely cruel about it. The German fascists group brutally murder Jews for their own gain, which led to the tragedy of history. The root of their tragedy, people come naturally think of World War I. The defeat of the World War I is considered the starting point for German Jewish tragedy. By studying the German Jewish soldiers of the first war in the early twentieth century, the thesis tries to explain this period of the relationship between the German Jews and non-Jews, proving that the relationship between the German Jews and non-Jews didn’t come to an abrupt end because of the outbreak of the First World War. On the contrary, their relationship became more closely in some areas.The first chapter of this article mainly discusses the reasons why the German Jewish soldiers actively participate in the First World War battle. In August 1914, the First World War broke out, including Jews, all Germans celebrated the outbreak of the war. The German government declared the "civil truce"(Burgfrieden) in order to gain the population’s support for the war, and then relaxed restrictions on Jews. At the same time, based on Jewish self-interest, all classes conducted extensive self-mobilization. As a result, German Jews with great enthusiasm to participate in the First World War, hoping to express their patriotism and improve their position.The second chapter of this article mainly discusses the experience of the German Jewish soldiers in the First World War. In response to the war mobilization, there are about one hundred thousand German Jews in the front and rear of the war. But the historical process is not as Jews think, the Jewish population census, in 1916 events proved that anti-Semitism in German society has never disappeared. Although, with the delay of the war, the Jews still suffer from time to time anti-Semitism, but the German Jewish soldiers of world war I, they ultimately successfully integration into the German army. After the outbreak of the war, the Jewish soldiers in a faster speed than the peacetime was promoted to officer; the percentage of Jewish officer also had significant improvement. Visible, anti-Semitism is not the main melody for the German Jewish soldiers in wartime. German Jewish soldiers on the battlefield experienced more horrors of war and mass death. In fact, during the war, it is difficult in dividing Jews from German. In many ways, actually the relationship between Jews and non-Jews in Germany had got closer through the war.The third chapter focuses on the influence brought by the German Jewish soldiers fighting the First World War. It may seem incredible to easily disintegrate of the powerful German army. Post-war Germany is filled with various contradictions. Thus, the forces of anti-Semitism directed against the Jews in Germany, accusing them of the defeat. Anti-Semitism again rises. The situation of Jewish survivors in First World War I is more difficult, instead they turn to seek comfort from various veterans organizations. As for the war dead, the German society began to hold a large-scale commemorative activities, in which, people continued to adhere a language of heroic sacrifice for the fatherland, on the other hand to plan to build the unified memorial sites. Postwar commemoration is not restricted by race or religion, instead forming the overlapping remembrance between German Jews and non-Jews. This again indicated that after experiencing defeat and confusion, German Jews and non-Jews still maintain some intimate relationship in some areas.German Jewish soldiers is a special group in German society, what’s more, their experience is also unique. In their view, they are Jews, but they are German who like their German comrades. By examining this particular group, we have a clearer understanding that the evolution of the relationship between Jews and non-Jews, thus we can have a more comprehensive understanding of the early 20th century German society.
