Dance around Convex Altar is held on the sixteenth October in the lunar year by Badongyao ethnical group in Xinning, in order to pray for being blessed and commemorate the hard struggling spirit of forefathers who lumbered and reclaimed land in the Badongyao Mountain. Song, dance, melody and ghost driver are integrated into this abundant and vivid artistic form. It is a concentrated reflection of Yao ethnical tradition as well as a crucial part in Chinese nation convention.This paper is divided into four chapters. The introduction elaborates the reasons and significance of choosing this subject, the status quo of this study at home and abroad, the theoretical foundation, as well as the methodology. Chapter One illustrates the relationship between Yao ethnical group and the King Pan, the process of how Badong Yao ethnical group branches out from Yao Tribes, and the formation of the unique Sacrifice Dance around Convex Altar which is impacted by various cultural custom. Chapter Two presents the throughout recording of the Sacrifice Dance around Convex Altar in the Golden Village, Xinning, and analyses performance forms, action features and music of the dance in this sacrifice. Chapter Three demonstrates cultural connotations and social functions of sacrifice dance. Chapter Four proposes creative values of sacrifice dance in the domain of professional dance education, and analyses the importance and effects of sacrifice dance which can enrich the traditional folk dance of our country and carry on our national culture.
