The narrative motif "the conflict between soul and body" in Chinese modern literature begins with Yu Dafu’s novels, extended to the contemporary.In the meantime, Yu Dafu, Ding Ling and Zhang Xianliang interprete that the floating ideas in the works by their fresh life and write the writers’ in different times understanding for this cultural motif in the history of literature, representing the three peak of the development of body and soul conflict motif.in the last century.This thesis is based on the three writer’s representative works, mining the important significance and spiritual values from the text, to provide support for the development track and grasp the characteristics of body and soul narrative motif.The general pattern of motif research is used to analyse the works,refining motif prototype,which embody the national cultural value.clarifying the evolution of the conflict between soul and body motif in different times. Then with the conflict between soul and body motif by three writers, with their own life experiences and the background of the times for the weft, the thesis try to common sort out to about the motif of literature in the twentieth Century and the value of it, to provide reference of continuing the development of the "conflict of soul and body" motif writing and research.
