For a long time, grammar teaching methods as the dominant position in the teaching Chinese as a foreign language. It ignores the importance of vocabulary, so the teaching effect is not good. The purpose of learning a language is to cultivate learners’communicative competence. Many scholars and experts explore new teaching methods constantly, began to pay attention to vocabulary learning. The importance of vocabulary has been recognized, the lexical approach is emerge as the times require under this background. Lexical chunks teaching method is a new teaching model based on Lexical Chunk Theory. It changes the previous single word memory strategies with chunks of memory.In this paper, The author introduces the theoretical of the chunk theory, including the definition,classification of lexical chunks and the function, analyzing the research status at home and abroad. Lexical approach is feasible in theory. In order to prove the lexical approach is feasible and effective in practical application in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, the author designed a teaching experiment. The teaching experiment in 4 classes in Paknam Chumphon Wittaya school as the subjects of the experiment. The two classes in grade one for the first experimental group. The B class is the experimental class, teaching by lexical chunks teaching method. The A class use the traditional teaching method to teach students. And two classes of grade three are the second experiment group. The B class is the experimental class, A class for the control classes. The experiment lasts three months. The author through the analysis of results of the two experiments, verifying the feasibility and effectiveness of the lexical approach.
