Besides Dongyong, there are other dutiful sons such as Huang Xiang in Han Dynasty (Yun Meng County) and Meng Zong crying over bamboo and reaping shoots in the Three Kingdoms (Xiao Chang County). Xiaogan city has three exemplars described in The Twenty Four Filial Exemplars, which is unique and irreplaceable. The profound filial piety culture has played an important role in economic and social development.Filial piety culture is the core of the Confucian ethics, one of the obvious features of Chinese culture, and important components of excellent national cultures which is of significant meaning in constructing harmonious culture, society and promoting people’s living standards. This paper aims to fully research on the cultural advantages of Xiaogan city and obtained progress as well as existing problems while constructing famous city of Chinese filial piety culture so as to further explore the meaning of filial piety morality culture in terms of self-cultivation, family harmony, valued social virtues, social stability, and happy life.
