The Narrative Research Of The Plague

Plague is one of the representative work of Camus,whose ideological content、humanism has been focused by many people,and which obtained high praise from all readers. The reason,perhaps as Fry says,“there are two basic facts in a work of art,on the one hand, it has similarities with its own age, on the other hand it has similarities with our time.”Since the publication of the Plague,research results in the aspects of ideological theme is rich,which concerned the unique narrative strategy is insufficient. In the thesis,the deep understanding of the artistic effect of the Plague is inseparable from the study on the narrative strategy of the novel. Narrative strategy is about the goal of author creation, also is closely related to text vitality.This article mainly make research from three aspects : the misery of the narrator、the temperature of narrative and narrative layer. Firstly,I will concerned the selection and arrangement of the narrator in the Plague,questioning the reason for the choice and its artistic effect. Then I will start from the zero temperature on the surface of the novel(no emotional narrative), and dig deep emotional temperature in the inner of the Plague. In the end, through the narrative layer I analysis the inner reason of the narrative nature and multiple metaphors. The thesis argues that we can interpret and understand the book deeply,find clever conceptions in the narrative of the novel and interpret its artistic effect and root vitality by studying the plague narrative strategy.
