The Study On Poetry And Poems Of Cai Songnian

Cai Songnian, named Bo Jian and with art name of the Old Xiao Xian, was a scholar in the early years of Jin Dynasty. He wrote the Bright Album of the Old Xiao Xian. The existing works include 86 poetry and 50 poems. The style of his poetry is attractive and broad-minded, elegant and obscure, representing the highest achievement of in the early years of Jin Dynasty. However, due to various reasons, including political issue and national prejudice, etc., his poetry and poems haven’t been received attention all the time. At present, the study on poetry and poems of Cai Songnian in academic circles still is very weak. There is no monograph of researching Cai Songnian’s poetry and poems, but only a few single articles concerning Poetry of Xiao Xian of Cai Songnian. The analytical investigation on his poems is even fewer, while only paper also pays more attention to the textual research on its individual lifetime. Thoughts and emotions, and artistic characteristic of his poetry and poems are lack of detailed analytical discussion. This paper uses poetry and poems of Cai Songnian as research objects to conduct integrated study on his poetry and poems. Proceeding with the status of “turncoat official” from Song Dynasty to Jin Dynasty, the paper interprets his emotional world of “external pampering and inner disgrace” comprehensively under the special historical background of the War between Song Dynasty and Jin Dynasty, so as to grasp his unique aesthetic characteristics reflected in his poetry affected by this psychology.This paper can be divided into three chapters. Chapter one studies emotional theme of Cai Songnian’s poetry and poems. It mainly begins with the status of unique “turncoat official” to analyze tolerant memory of his homeland, contradictory war-weary emotion and weak-kneed pleasure of reclusion reflected in his poetry and poems. Chapter two researches artistic style of Cai Songnian’s poetry and poems, lays particular emphasis on studying image, structure and style of poetry, so as to analyze the unique beauty of poetry artistically. Chapter three studies Cai Songnian’s origin and influence on later generations, and points out Tao Yuanming and Su Shi’s impacts on thought of his poetry and arts, as well as his influence on poetry and poems of later scholars.Poetry and poems of Cai Songnian not only reflect entire psychological states of ethnic Han’s scholars from Song Dynasty to Jin Dynasty, but also present the distinctive beauty of characteristics, because of his unique character and experience. It seems that he has decisive status in the literary world of early Jin Dynasty and he is deserved to be studied deeply.
