Drama is of rich connotation and belongs to a unique literary genre. With regard to drama translation, which can be classified into the expressive text according to the classification of the English translation theorist Peter Newmark, much attention has long been paid to its dualistic property, namely readability and performability. But the ultimate purpose of the most drama is to be performed on the stage, which decides that drama translation should take into account both its performability and audiences as the important target receiver. Therefore, the author resorts to skopos theory advocated by German translation theorist Hans J. Vermeer as the theoretical support in the translation of the drama named A Gauntlet, and then follows performability as the most important principle, considering some specific aspects and adopting various translation methods including substitution, combination of literal translation and free translation, division, addition, condensation, corresponding translation and so on.This report is based on the drama translation project taken and completed independently by the author, mainly introducing the whole process and the practice significance of the translation project. So by means of reviewing, analyzing and summarizing the translation practice, the author expects that some useful experience can be obtained so as to explore more practical and effective translation methods after trying to combine the theories learned in class with some practical techniques and methods. Then the conclusion can be drawn that the intensive study of translation theories is of great importance and that more translation practice is decisive to the improvement of translation abilities and the progress of translators.
