| By 2005, it had been 60 years since the victory of war of resistance against Japanese aggression. Mr. Jin Xiang, a composer, presented a magnificent symphonic epic Nanjing Lament to commemorate and recall the lost of pioneers. Mr. Jin Xiang reminded us that “do not forget national humiliation” and pledged national belief of “revitalizing the Chinese nation” with music.The symphonic chorus Nanjing Lament uses the divertimento form as structure. It consists of six movements, including: Xuge, Tucheng, Zhaohun, Yueguang, Niepan, Zongqu and so on. The whole music manages to encourage people with its huge momentum and magnificent sound. Through creation analysis on this work, this article uncovers the superb skills of composition of the contemporary composer(Jin Xiang) and his strong national sense. Besides, the writer has received baptism in his soul,realizing the progress, and his patriotism has been sublimated during the process of analyzing and researching this work.Apart from introduction, this paper is divided into three major parts. The first part briefly introduces the work Nanjing Lament and the artistic career of the composer, and comprehensively presents the composer’s creative style and the connotation of the work. While in the second part, the important paragraph of this paper, analyzes this work from the angle of technique(musical form structure, mode harmony, turning method, polyphony, chorus, instruments, etc.), hoping to comprehensively reveal the unique creative thinking and techniques of composer Mr. Jin Xiang. And the third part is about the writer’s cognition and realization. It includes the writer’s self-experience and feeling in the national memorial, for which he made a special trip to Nanjing to participate in on Dec 13, 2014, the first memorial day for Nanking Massacre when he visited the Nanjing Massacre Momerial hall, and the social meanings as well as speculation brought about by combining with this work. |
