Exploration Of Multiple Mallet Playing In Marimba

Since the 17th Century, marimba has gradually developed into a percussion instrument in one of the most popular solo instrument, professional competitions and exams. There are many composers and marimba-players wrote many different and beautiful styles of music.Over the past few decades, with the development of marimba technique, as well as a composer composing concept development, more and more attention focused on the marlin performing technology innovation and development, from the beginning of the tow-mallet technique that development to four-mallet technique that makes the artistic expression of marimba gets an breakthrough increase. Today, four-mallet technique has become the most widely used in playing marimba mallet technique, is also thought to be professional in the field of keyboard percussion basic needs. And in order to exploit the limitation of Marimba playing technique, many musicians began to study more possibility of mallet manipulation after the improvement of four-mallet technique, as six, eight and even more mallets playing method.Although now in China there are a number of renowned domestic and foreign performers, but for the marimba technique innovation there is still no synchronization with marimba and art developed country. Four-mallet technique in our country has been widely used, but it is a pity that many mallets technique (such as six-mallet, eight-mallet technique) is barely started. This article is the inquiry of more mallets playing of marimba through my decade years of learning and playing, combined with some limited material and hands-on practice.
