Yu Hua is the most representative writer in contemporary China, and one of the most prestigious Chinese writers on the international scene, his literary creation is full of individuality and influence. Yu Hua’s fiction in general can be divided into two periods:the novels in the 80s to the early 90s’s pioneer and the novels which come back to reality after the 90s, thus, this paper focuses on these two periods.We can always find the Personality and creativity everywhere in Yu Hua’s fiction, and that he is good at breaking the traditional mode, the modernist features of "non-traditional" especially in his early pioneer work. In this article I want to explore the features of modernism in Yu Hua’s fiction. Yu Hua is such a rebel the traditional mode of creation novel writer, the novel forms, the psychological truth, highlighting the individual feels, real in the absurd; He inherited and used the western modernism technique to make his language, narrative and the theme of his works different. This paper is divided into three parts:the first part, the analysis of Yu Hua’s language’s modernism tendency, mainly from the variation, defamiliarization and the music and color rendering, the characteristics of these three aspects used for illustrating Yu Hua’s spirit of modernism, exploring the innovation and the variation of language form, combined with the unique language linguistics to dialysis Yu Hua’s novels’ unique significance; The second part, this paper discusses the modernism stain of Yu Hua’s novels’ narration, mainly reflected in time, space, structure, imagination and fiction unique perception in novel creation, combined with Yu Hua’s special experience to writing to memory, this part is the most one which can reflect Yu Hua’s modernist features; The third part is talking about the theme selection and fiction writing of Yu Hua’s novels which shows his article’s modernism trend, mainly reflected in his parody of subject matter, the sarcasm of fate,and the infatuation of death, obsessed with the subject of this kind of alienation.This paper combined with Yu Hua’s interviews, research materials and prose essays to discusses Yu Hua’novels in the form of text research characteristics of modernism, hoping that through this analysis of the modernist features of Yu Hua’ novel to find the unique values and aesthetic significance.
