Hermann Prey(1929—1998)is one of the famous German baritone. His singing style and singing skills always make audiences so enjoyable that they even forget to leave. This thesis chosen his art of vocal music as a researching subject, go into details through five chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces Prey’s entire experience about the road of act briefly, including his beginning, growth, adultness and the pinnacle of career. The second chapter use two songs of aria in Mozart’s opera le nozze di Figaro as examples, through analysis his singing to prove Prey’s excellent expression in the opera works of Classical period. The third chapter through analysis Prey’s singing about the two songs of Wagner and Verdi’s famous operas to prove Prey’s excellent singing skill. The fourth chapter use two art songs of Schubert’s vocal music suite Winterreise as examples,through analysis his unique singing thought and singing processing to prove Prey’s outstanding singing skill again. The fifth chapter th-rough Prey’s Unique singing and acting skills to give us so much positive enlightenment for our vocal learning and singing.Prey didn’t follow the prescribed marks with the songs. But most of singers always sing step-by-step with the prescribed marks on the works, for this way, it would make the performance lost glamour. Prey’s another successful skill, is that he was able to pay equal attention to the singing skills, emotional processing and theme representing, this is also one of his important successful factors. I hope this paper can give readers some reference value and a little gain.
