Moral Identity,the Affect Of Thinking Abstraction On The Moral Hypocrisy

In recent years,as people’s attention on the continuous improvement of ethical issues, the moral hypocrisy of the moral phenomenon has become a moral psychology research in the field of hot issues. Currently, research on moral hypocrisy is mainly theoretical and research influence factors. Previous studies showed that individual factors, emotional, moral power, etc. will affect the hypocrisy effect. Abstract thinking, the ethics of identity and situational factors, as an important factor in variables will effect the moral hypocrisy has an important influence, but currently few studies have addressed. On the basis of recent research on moral behavior hypocritical "double standard" to judge to examine two levels of abstraction level of moral identity and thinking of the performance and impact of moral hypocrisy.This study from three parts: a study by the hypocrisy test, simulation scenarios material impact study as relationships and moral core of moral self-identity and moral hypocrisy. Effects of Two study thinking in behavioral experiments and simulation scenarios hypocrisy material abstract level of moral hypocrisy, further validate and extend research. Three basic research on the previous two studies into account the level of abstract thinking as an individual variable of moral identity and situational variables is how it affects the relationship between morality and hypocrisy between variables. Study results showed that:(1) Low moral identity of the subjects compared to subjects in the high moral identity hypocrisy experiment produced more hypocritical behavior, there are more number of selected green mission and the difference is remarkable. Moral identity to some extent affected the hypocritical behavior of individuals. In the context of the material simulation also found that regardless of the context or traffic violations cheating situation of high moral identity were tested for their own and others’ acceptance of the judgment of unethical behavior are less than the low moral identity separate subjects, moral identity on moral hypocrisy obvious impact.(2) Start thinking subjects of different levels of abstraction found that subjects under the level of abstract thinking, whether in hypocrisy experiment or simulation scenarios material hypocrisy did better than the performance of specific subjects were significantly lower level of thinking. Therefore, the level of abstract thinking will start to increase hypocritical behavior of individual judgment and acceptance of "double standards" isolated to a certain extent, and thus have an impact on moral hypocrisy.(3) Consolidated moral identity and the relationship between abstract thinking and moral hypocrisy levels found interaction between moral hypocrisy. Effect of moral identity on moral hypocrisy of abstract thinking by horizontal adjustment, regulation of the low level of moral identity of individuals who thought more obvious.
