Discourse Marker Uh In Conversation Of Students‘ Presentation

Discourse marker is a very common research object in linguistic field. It can be regarded as a pragmatic research item in the form of a single word or phrases in the communication process. And the researches of discourse markers have gained a great amount of results and achievements. As a phenomenon of common linguistic research topic, discourse markers have been researched by a lot of scholars and researchers in recent decades. The author of the thesis has selected the easily- ignored discourse marker in students‘ presentations as the research item. And the thesis has selected the online corpus MIC ASE as the resource of the initial data in the framework of Relevance Theory, which combines quantitative and qualitative analysis to interpret the phenomenon. And the thesis has included 6 categories of the situations and functions of the discourse marker Uh. The author adopts the above method to analyze the data under the setting circumstances to categorize the data. And all the data have been analyzed with the help of the context in their initial texts, which provides a help for the classification of the pragmatic functions. And the author expects the research in this thesis will be a complementary file and resource for the following researchers in the field of discourse markers‘ researches and has summarized the influences in the process of communication for a reference.
