The Study Of Aesthetic And Ideology About ‘New Temperament’ From Lin Yutang

Lin Yutang is the famous scholar, writer and linguist in modern China. He is famous in Chinese literature as Lu Xun, Zhou Zuoren, Yu Dafu, Qian Xuetong who represent the highest Chinese literary achievement. Lin Yutang has a profound knowledge of both western and eastern culture, not only he has abundant Chinese traditional culture, but also have the western philosophy, art and religion background. Western and eastern have their different understanding in aesthetics, for this reason, Lin Yutang absorbed the advantages in both side and developed a new theory system with his own feature. Even though he wrote in English and live in the U.S., he always brought Chinese culture to the world. This study will try to analyze the aesthetic ideology of Lin Yutang from the aspect of the discussion of traditional culture in Chinese ‘ New Temperament’, so that find out his achievement in Chinese aesthetic and ideological history.This study will divide into 6 sections. The introduction will write about the reason of this study, the research background and the creative of this study. The first section describes the origin of the aesthetic ideology from ‘New Temperament ’ of Lin Yutang. The second section majorly describes the different between the traditional ‘Temperament’ and ‘New Temperament’. The third section is writing about the feature of the aesthetic ideology from ‘New Temperament’. The fourth section is about the creation view and the aesthetic view of the ‘New Temperament’. The final section compares the Lin Yutang with other aesthetician so that we can conclude his achievement in Chinese aesthetic and ideological history.
