Double piano is one important art form among many piano performance expressions. It is sort of art of cooperation. Based from two performers’ consistent recognizing and understanding of musical compositions, they could finally make a better performance through mutual coordinating on performance skills. This is beneficial and necessary for a piano learner’s whole development.However the status of double piano is relatively low in our country’s higher normal musical education.Starting from her own experiences of learning double piano’s performance, the writer believes that in early time of learning piano, double piano’s learning should be included for the purpose of establishing teamwork sense in piano performance and accumulating experiences of performing piano in cooperation. Not only does the double piano’s training improve performing level and encouraging interests of performing piano, but also to increase the competence of collaborating with other players. Through introducing features and values of double piano’s performance and training objectives of universities’ music education, this article is armed to present the writer’s brief idea for higher normal universities’ curriculum setting.This article all includes 4 parts”Part one: by summarizing formers’ researh, this article is trying to conclude features, the history and the status at home and abroad of the double piano’s performance.Part two: this article discusses the distinction between piano solo and double piano through analyzing piano SOLO: Bai Niao Chao Feng adapted by Wang Jian Zhong and double pianolude:Bai Niao Chao Feng and Er Yue Ying Quan adapted by WeiYouShan and LanChengBao.Part three: this article briefly explores reasons why double piano’s training is very of importance for piano education of our country’s higher normal musical university.Part four: this article briefly describes the role which double piano plays in higher normal universities’ education system. The writer is offered to present her own design on training objectives,curriulum setting, teaching materials, education methods, graduate assesments of double piano and how to perfectly deal with the relationship between piano solo and double piano.
