There are many widowed-mothers in the full-length vernacular fiction of Qing Dynasty which can be divided into four parts: sanctified, moralized, aristocratic and vulgarized widowed-mothers and summarizes their basic characteristics. It also analyzes the novels in the Qing Dynasty of widowed-mothers from admiring chaste women, family influences and their psychological status in Qing Dynasty. The narrative interpretation of books which includes widowed-mothers analyzes worship of widowed-mothers caused by literal style and family influences, grasps the essence of history, cultural background of widowed-mothers from different angles, and demonstrated profound cultural deposit of widowed-mothers.This paper includes four chapters:The first chapter: the literature expression of widowed-mothers in fictions in the full-length vernacular fiction of Qing Dynasty.It makes a definition on the‘widowed-mothers’ and analyzes the sanctified, moralized, aristocratic and vulgarized widowed-mothers.The second chapter: the basic characteristics of widowed-mothers in fictions in the full-length vernacular fiction of Qing Dynasty, which discusses widowed-mothers’ supreme status in the family,they are the spiritual mentor of their children and the special phenomenon of mother and father combined one.The third chapter: the cultural interpretation of the phenomenon that widowed-mothers fostering her children. On the one hand, it comprehensively examines the reasons from law,morality, children growing environment and economic conditions that why there are many virtuous in the Qing Dynasty. On the other hand, it analyzes the condition of widows and orphans’ living condition from family economic situation, the mothers’ psychological status and educational mode.The fourth chapter: reveal the cultural deposit of widowed-mother worship in the full-length vernacular fiction of Qing Dynasty. Firstly, it demonstrates women losing their voices, no self-consciousness and many other conditions under the feudal patriarchal society through the position of women in the family by feudal ethics. Secondly, it analyzes mother’s family rights and status changes due to father’s absence. Lastly, it analyzes the writers’ Oedipus complex from creative motivation, special experience and traditional culture of worship for the mother.
