Children’s painting refers to the works of figure paintings which contents are based on the activities of children. It has a long history but still new whenever we bring this theme up. Children becomes the main character in the transition of the fuzzy image of the very beginning to the contraction of the main theme. This just fully caters to people’s aesthetic tastes and needs, which is the result of the increasing of the children’ social status and the increasing of the concern and care from people for the children. At the beginning of twentieth Century, Chinese and Western cultures collide and blend, and the western art philosophy flows into China. The western paintings pay attention to the emotion and the painting expression also shows the exploration of the language, which extents the minds and the ideas of the Chinese artists also diversified the elements of art. Following the traditional painting idea, the artists began to pay more attention to the emotional expression, using the painting as a carrier to convey their own emotional ideas or indirectly reflects their own thoughts or thoughts for society. The modern children’s paintings is more concerned with the children themselves and their inner world than the ancient times.By reading books, surfing the internet, I have a better and clearer understanding on the traditional figure painting, as well as the paintings of the modern painters which elements are diversified under the culture change.Emotional expression is so important for modern children’s painting no matter in term of the expression of the child inner self or the feeling of the artist. Finally, I think to have a successful piece of work for painting, a painter may need to deepen him or herself in the real life and truly feel this world, then show his or her thoughts and feelings in the work.
