Research Of Yan Lianke’s Novels From The Horizon Of Folk Archetypal Criticism

In modern literary filed, Yan Lianke is a writer can never be missed. Since seventy’s of last century, he has payed unlimited attention to the misery land in west of Henan. He sticks to write for the toil man. He yells for the suffering people, all of which sketch the contours of disastrous misery in countryside. We can find the shadow of folk archetypal in his literature. The writer expresses worries to the society and warns people to rethink the unreasonable factors in today’s society by combining folk story and legend and society together from the unique perspective of his own.This paper is divided into the following three chapters.Chapter one discuss the present form of Folk Archetypal in Yan Lianke’s novel, which is the main part of this paper. This chapter consist of three sections. The first one starts with the Artistic expression of Theme Archetypal, it states the paradise life that everyone wished and the failure in pursuit of it on the halfway when come across external interference; the "Goddess" Archetypal develops to "two female one male" model in love theme which indicates what the writer wants to pursuit are the Harmonious situation of both sexes and Women’s independent consciousness. Life in his words: man’s life is as short as the vegetation, though the writer doesn’t describe the transformation of devas, human beings, the hells and six kinds of existence, the good and evil concepts related them keep appearing in his literature, which indicates the writer is right after samsara. The second section is the diverse expression of folk imagination, which is consist of the following two parts: The illusion between dream and reality, the magic interweave of yin and yang. This clearly shows Yan Lianke’s imagine style. The third section is the diverse expression of Folk archetypal structure model. It focuses on the discussion of classic narrative pattern "start--transform--regress" and "big story contains small story". This is the prominent feature of Yan Lianke’s literature.The second chapter discuss the generating background of Folk Archetypal in Yan Lianke’s novel. This is consist of three parts: the writer’s life experience, the influence of the local regional culture and the reference of the western culture, discuss how the Folk archetypal generates in his literature, make the relationship of literature and Yan Lianke’s life clear, point out the necessity of looking after Folk Archetypal.The third chapter discuss the significance of applying Folk Archetypal in Yan Lianke’s novel. Yan Lianke has his own theory system in his creation--Reality in the Eyes of God(REG),the application of archetypal has important influence on REG. The application of Folk Archetypal is not only benefit to rethink of "modernity", but also inspires the writer digging the native culture resource and native aesthetic consciousness.Yan Lianke sticks to live on the land of Balou Mountain, he is loyal to his own heart, he insists on the writing style combined with archetypal by writer’s conscience. This can arouse people’s memory to traditional culture and then rethink the disadvantage of modernization. So,this paper sets the Folk Archetypal as research object and takes care of it in Yan Lianke’s novel on the whole. It explores the benefits to Yan Lianke’s creation by his using of folk archetypal and the influence of Folk Archetypal to literature filed.
