Pronunciation is the footstone of language study. As early as the late period of 19 th century, noted linguist Saussure pointed out that language is the tool of expressing ideas and the existence of semanteme relies on pronunciation. Pronunciation is an indivisible part of language. It is the material basis of the existence and development of language.English is the second language for Chinese people, and the disadvantage for studying English is the lacking of English environment. Improper pronunciation is an unbridgeable barrier for learners.Native language has an impact on the second language acquisition, whose process is called “language transfer”. Contrastive Analysis holds that there is positive and negative transfer. Positive transfer will help learners for second language acquisition,while negative transfer will bring interference for that. Through the interconnection of dialect and English pronunciation, this paper discusses how to encounter interference by utilizing the positive effects of native language’s pronunciation to improve students’ pronunciation. Pronunciation is a premise for studying a second language. Only when phoneme and pronunciation rules are grasped, can students have spelling ability,independent preview and review ability, so as to lay solid foundation for oral English and listening expression. It is after speaking Mandarin well that Chinese students start to learn English. Therefore, English study is bound to be affected by Chinese language,including Mandarin and dialects.This paper discusses the futures of Qinggang dialect and its impact on pronunciation. Among many features, this paper will mainly analyze from the following three aspects: syllable onset,syllable rime and tone. Features of syllable onset are: level-lingual and cacuminal sectors, changing "r" syllable onset, adding "n" syllable onset, transforming syllable onsets of individual letters. Featu res of syllable rime are: the phenomenon of replacing o with e, ?e with iɑo, adding nasal final n?, and Transforming syllable rimes of individual letters. Features of tone are:inaccuracy of tone pitch and in conformity of letters and tones. Taking Qinggang as an example,to know the relationship and interaction between dialect and English pronunciation is helpful for students to grasp pronunciation method, effectively utilize the positive effects of nativelanguage to overcome interference, and finally to improve students’ pronunciation. This paper takes teachers and students of Qinggang as the objects of study by adopting the methods of open forum, questionnaire survey, key interview, and lecture recording, etc.On the basis of these firs-hand materials, this paper analyzes the impacts of Qinggang dialect on English teaching and raises effective teaching strategies. The research result of this paper will bring about a certain guiding and practical meanings for the English study and popularization of Qinggang students.
