With the help of Lefebvre’s spatial theory and the historical facts, this thesis tends to explore how women constructed their identity in different social spaces and how they could construct a successful identity. It first analyzes the representations of space for women’s identity in Chinese social space, Chinese women’s spatial practices and the representational space for their identity. Then it analyzes the first generation of Chinese women immigrants’ identity from the aspects of representations of space, spatial practices and representational space in American social space. It continues to analyze the identity for second generation of Chinese American women who are born in American from the aspects of the representations of space for their identity, their spatial practices and the representational space for their identity. Finally it is concluded that Chinese American females should be brave enough to gain their own rights and also they should understand and be tolerant to both cultures so that they could be accepted by different people and establish their unique identity.Previous researches on The Woman Warrior are mainly from the perspectives of genre study, culture study, feminism, narratology and post-colonialism, etc. This thesis sets out from spatial theory and concludes that women should endeavor to construct their new identity so that they can live in a fair society for them.
