The Clan Wang in TaiYuan was a illustrious and prolonged intelligentsia that had existed in the whole mediaeval times. It was the epitome and reflection of the anstocratic families development. Throughout its evolution history, approximately from Dong-Han to Dong-Jin Dynasty and from Northern Wei to Tang Dynasty. In this period, it had two peaks. The first peak was in the Dong Jin Dynasty,and the second peak was in the Tang Dynasty. This article focuses on the rise and decline of TaiYuan Wang Clan in the Tang Dynasty. We discuss this theme in three chapters.In the first chapter, the auther will introduce the evolution history of TaiYuan Wang Clan before the Tang Dynasty. It includes the source of TaiYuan Wang Clan and its rise and decline course from Qin-Han to Wei-Jin dynasties. And it is aimed at vertically rendering the developmental trajectory of TaiYuan Wang Clan.In the second chapter, the auther will research the development of TaiYuan Wang Clan in the early Tang period. The Tang Dynasty is divided into early and late period by the boundary of An-Shi Rebellion. In the early period, after a short political downturn period, TaiYuan Wang Clan was into the official career gradually with the imperial civil service examination. There is no doubt that the imperial examination system provides a road to revive.And in this way, TaiYuan Wang Clan rised again after Wei-Jin Dynasty. With the political contribution and status of family members, TaiYuan Wang Clan retained a high social reputation during this period.In the third chapter, the auther will research the development and declination of TaiYuan Wang Clan in the late Tang period. An-Shi Rebellion broke out at the end of TianBao period. After this incident, the Tang Dynasty changed from flourish to decadence. But TaiYuan Wang Clan can still be active in the political arena in a certain period with more perfect imperial examination and related political system. However, TaiYuan Wang Clan was only the officers under the control of government in the Tang Dynasty. It was no longer a identity class relative to Wei-Jin period. So when the Tang regime demise, it would also be declined.
