Translator’s Creativity In Literary Translation

Hermeneutics is the discipline and methodology of meaning, understanding and interpretation, and its main task consists of people’s understanding and interpreting activities concerning the text. However, translation activities also involve with the translators understanding and interpreting of original text. Thus, it has significant theoretical meaning for using translation studies under the application of hermeneutic theory in translation activities. To the Hermeneutics viewpoint, the process of translation is that the translators get the understanding and the interpreting of the text. And in the translation of literature works, the translation that contained the meaning can only be produced by the translator’s understanding and interpreting. During the understanding and interpreting, translators not only have to adapt to the source texts, but also adhere to the target language, and combine culture contexts and history situations to carry on creative translation, thus translator’s creativity develops.An unnecessary woman was written by American writer Rabih Alameddine. Rabih is a Lebanese-American, so the created novel happened in the place of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. The novel’s content is narration, and the text belongs to literature. In the translation of literature works, under the guidance of philosophical hermeneutics theories and on the base of adhere to original text, translator combine the cultural of source text and target language, develop translator’s creative style to finish this creative translation. Facts prove that philosophical hermeneutics theory provides a brand-new angle for translator’s creativity in that it is conducive to the translation of creativity as well as the new meaning of translation text.At the beginning of this paper, it gives a brief introduction of text background and the process of the translation, and some reasons for choosing this text to translate. Then this paper provides the support theoretical foundation of philosophical hermeneutics and discuss how translator’s creativity are applied under the guidance of hermeneutics theories in this literature translation. And translator choose some translation strategies and skills to analyze some classic cases and explain in detail. Finally, this paper make a conclusion of peoblems and implications in the process of translation, and sum up the major results and limitations of the study, give some suggestions for the future research on the translator’s creativity.
