Cai You Guo Master’s Degree Graduation Project Design

The main objectives of the graduation project are to showcase the rich tonality and virtuosity of Pipa instrument which I learnt in course of this postgraduate program. Through this project I hope to promote, explore and develop the art of Pipa playing by creating a new soundscape with traditional Pipa instruments in a Pipa ensemble settingthereby bringing about a higher level of cultural appreciation for the audience in Singapore.In this is paper, I will be discussing the development of the Pipa in Singapore from the 1950 s. The inspiration drawn from the choices of repertoires, its impact and value of this project. Apart from the artistic perception, I will also be discussing the logistic and marketing aspect of this project.
