Features Of Phonetic Perception And Production Using Minimal Pairs Of Phoneme Contrast In Aphasia Patients And The Training Strategy

The patients with aphasia will suffer from language comprehension and expression disability,seriously affecting their daily communication. Commonly in the process of clinical practice,the patients with aphasia show phonetic perception and producing barrier. However,rehabilitation clinicians pay little attention to the point and the study on it is not systematic and deeply enough.This research focuses on abilities of phonetic perception and producing of aphasia patients.On the basis of literature review we use experimental approach to aphasia patients characteristics analysis,and applying the preliminary research results to clinical practice. Specific studies are as follows:1.Features of Phonetic Perception in Aphasia PatientsIn this study,20 patients with aphasia were administered the auditory identification test.Results are as follows:(1)The vast majority of the aphasia patients exist phonetic perception contrasts disorder.(2) For the patients with aphasia, the degree of difficulty of the three kinds of phoneme contrast to performance is:vowel>consonant>tone.(3) The score of the listening relative retention comprehension group is significantly superior to the one of the listening bad comprehension group (p< 0.01).2.Features of Phonetic Production in Aphasia PatientsIn this study,20 patients with aphasia were administered the articulation phonemic contrasts test、phonemic contrast repeat test and phonemic contrasts switching test. The purpose of this study was to explore phonemic production contrasts features. Results indicated that (1) The vast majority of aphasia patients showexist phonetic production contrasts disorders; (2) In the three tests for patients with aphasia, the degree of difficulty of the three kinds of phoneme to production is:tone> vowel> consonant;(3) Language relative retention group phonetic production contrasts scores were significantly higher than language injury group (p< 0.05).3. The relationship of phonetic perception contrasts, phonetic production contrasts and language.On the basis of previous studies, the listening comprehension test and oral repeat test were used to the 20 aphasia patients. Results are as follows:(1) The score of auditory identification is in moderate correlation with the score of the three production performances.(2) The score of phonemic contrast perception is in moderate correlation with the score of listening comprehension.And also, the score of phonemic contrast repeat is in moderate correlation with the score of oral repeat performance. These results suggest that the abilities for phonetic perception contrasts and phonetic production contrasts are closely related to language ability. It also embodies the value and significance of phonemic contrasts contrasts.4.Training strategy of phonetic perception and phonetic production in phoneme contrastWith the previous research results, we put forward some intervention strategies, and report one aphasia case attacked more than 1 year ago. Results are as follows:the patient’s ability for phonemic contrast repeat has been improved significantly.At the same time patient’s language ability has been improved.The Innovations:This research aims at phonetic perception and producing barrier in aphasia patients, the study found that this barrier is really widespread in aphasia patients.It suggests we need to pay more attention to clinical rehabilitation process.
