Xi Chengyi site is an important Neolithic Age to Bronze Age site in Gansu-Qinghai area, and its cultural connotation including the remains of late Machang, a "Transitional type" and the Siba culture. Through the flotation of 179 soil samples which were excavated and collected by 2012 and 2014, a large number of plant remains including charcoal, carbonized plant seeds and fruits were obtained. Which can identify plant seeds and fruits for a total of 29611, including crops, weeds, edible fruits and so on.The crops founded in the site are foxtail millet, common millet, wheat, barley, cannabis sativa and a suspected rape, foxtail millet is the most one in the site, common millet is the second one, both have a very high universality in the site. Wheat also occupies a certain proportion in crops, with a higher universality, which indicates that except foxtail millet and common millet, it is another important crop at that time. Barley is not much, but the universality of the occurrence is also higher, only 2 cannabis sativa have founded. The combination of crops and weeds founded in the site reflect that the agriculture at that time is a typical rainfed agriculture dominated by foxtail millet and common millet, while planting wheat, barley, cannabis sativa. Many kinds of crops have also reflected the characteristics of agricultural diversification at that time.In the use of the site, its agriculture has always been mainly in foxtail millet and common millet, wheat may have been started planting in late Machang, "type of transition" period basically a continuation of the pattern of agriculture with the late Machang, in Siba period began to widely cultivated wheat and barley, and cultivation of cannabis sativa.According to the results of the analysis of the plant remains, animal remains, stable isotope, production tools, Xi Chengyi site in Siba culture period, the rainfed agriculture is the mainly subsistence, animal husbandry occupies a certain proportion, and acquisition of economic.According to the flotation results of different sites in Gansu-Qinghai area, agriculture of this area from Neolithic Age to Bronze Age vary with era and place. The excavation of barley and wheat in the site provides new materials for early cultural communication between China and the West.
