The Study Of Sincerity In Confucianism

In the process of learning about nature and themselves, human beings always want to integrate with nature and the Way of Heaven which are the natural laws to feel the sense of belonging and presence. In order to reach this integration, Confucianism came up with the theory of the harmony between the heaven and the human. In terms of thinking characteristics, Confucian conclusion on “the harmony between the heaven and the human” obviously refers to Bi-Dimensional orientation of thinking, stressing dialectical unity of metaphysical transcendence and pragmatic implementation(transcendence and immanence). And sincerity is the core of the harmony between the heaven and the human Bi-Dimensional orientation of thinking in Confucianism. In other words, from the view of Confucianism, heaven in metaphysics and man in natural science integrate through sincerity. In a sense, the enrichment of Confucianism is to develop sincerity into the integration of heaven and men as time goes by, and to build up a system for this theory.
